About Kirsten Elliott
Kirsten Elliott has been taking visitors round Bath since 1985. Since 1990 she has devised the walks and tours for the Bath International and Bath Literature Festivals. She founded Bath Walks in 1992 to provide a wide and varied programme of guided walks and tours for visitors to the World Heritage City of Bath.
She has written or co-written seven books on the city, including the illustrated history of Bath published by Frances Lincoln and Yale University Press in 2004. This was one of the books selected for presentation to the delegates at the 2005 G8 Conference in Gleneagles, Scotland.
Other books include A Window on Bath: Eight Walks in Bath and Hidden Paths & Secret Gates: Six All Day Walks Around Bath.
In 2003, she founded Akeman Press to publish high-quality books on Bath and the surrounding area.
She has also helped to produce the new Tourist Tracks MP3 Walking Tour of Bath in association with Bath Tourism Plus, and written and presented a DVD on the city, Bath: Glorious History, Majestic Beauty.
As a freelance broadcaster, she has given talks on Bath on BBC Radio 3. As a freelance journalist she is a frequent contributor to local and national publications. She also works as an architectural consultant and historian, is a member of the History of Bath Research Group and the Bath Minuet Company.
